Eric Hartman, the recording and mix engineer for the award winning Fusion Jazz group Snarky Puppy, is here to share some insight and open up one of his mixing sessions for us! Listen to his story and what he’s learned that helped him to construct his career. Eric describes what it’s like to work in massive live-tracking sessions, he talks about his workflow and discusses how he troubleshoots issues like phasing and microphone bleed as well.

Using a song by the artist Shaun Martin, he also goes into detail about his mixing strategies: learn how Eric sets up his mixes, automation, and get to know Eric’s choice of plugins and gear along with when and how he likes to use them. This session covers many aspects about audio including live sound, recording, mixing, as well as general philosophies about music production!
